What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a science and researched based profession that considers the ‘whole person’ in the approach including health and wellbeing.

Physiotherapy takes into account individuals own personal goals whether it be to take your dog for a walk or run a marathon.

Treatments can consist of hands-on manual therapy, soft tissue release, acupuncture, electrotherapy, cupping, fascia release, taping and will be done alongside education and exercise prescription.

What to expect?

  • On your initial session the Physiotherapist will take a history of your current complaint/injury and any other previous injuries/medical health history as this can affect the treatment plan and diagnosis.
  • Following this the Physio will assess your movement generally as a whole person and joints above and below the affected area. I.e. If it’s you hip, your lower back and knee will be assessed too.
  • Appropriate treatment will be carried out following the findings and diagnosis, whether this be manual therapy, acupuncture, soft tissue release, taping or a combination of all.
  • Throughout the session you will be educated on what you can be doing yourself to help with the injury and empowering you to help where you can.
  • At the end, an exercise program will be given and sent out via a program called Physitrack. Rehab to compliment your current training is always taken into consideration and will often help you achieve your goals.
